Out betekent uit / buiten en heeft daarnaast de betekenis van ‘niet meer aanwezig.’ Enkele (idiomatische) voorbeelden:

Een uitdrukking die op het moment erg gangbaar is, is outsourcing: het uitbesteden van een deel van een project aan een andere partij.

Outside spreekt ook min of meer voor zich. Het draagt altijd de betekenis van buiten, aan de buitenzijde, aan de zijkant met zich mee.
