Lijdend: The possibility of a merger is being discussed.
simple past
Bedrijvend: Someone stole my watch.
Lijdend: My watch was stolen.
past continuous tense (de -ingvorm in het verleden)
Bedrijvend: Customers were inundating the company with inquiries.
Lijdend: The company was being inundated with inquiries.
present perfect
Bedrijvend: They have abandoned the plan.
Lijdend: The plan has been abandoned.
past perfect
Bedrijvend: We had not foreseen this development.
Lijdend: This development had not been foreseen.
future tense
Bedrijvend: We will judge the candidates on their merits.
Lijdend: The candidates will be judged on their merits.
future perfect tense
