Het Engelse voorzetsel in lijkt natuurlijk op het Nederlandse in. De Engelse variant into is dynamischer. Bij into ligt de nadruk meer op de handeling, met in meer op de toestand. Zie bijvoorbeeld het verschil tussen: When you are in a garden, you are closest to God en: She heard the sound of something dropping into the pond and came running into the garden. Into wordt in het Nederlands ook vaak met naar uitgedrukt.
