De belangrijkste fouten worden gemaakt met fewer en less. Fewer hoort bij de telbare zelfstandige naamwoorden, less bij de niet-telbare.

Fewer students enrolled than we anticipated.
Few people understood the implications of the new law.
There is little point in continuing negotiations at this time.
There is less time to perform the operation than we expected.
This party has the least number of MPs in the parliament.
